Strange insurance products

Perhaps it was silly of me to think that Real Insurance, offering car insurance, home insurance, contents insurance, landlords, funeral and life insurance, had a wide variety of insurance products to offer its customers. But after surfing the net recently, I discovered just how many different (and often strange) insurance products are out there!

You’d think that hitting a hole-in-one on the golf course would be a good thing right? Well, according to the unwritten rules of golf, if you hit a hole-in-one then its tradition to buy a round of drinks for the bar! A joyous but somewhat costly exercise, especially if there are over a hundred people in the bar! Luckily for skilled golfers then, you can take out hole-in-one insurance to cover the costs!

And if you are a passionate golfer, (or anyone else for that matter) you can also take out body part insurance. Mariah Carey and Heidi Klum have both insured their legs, while Merv Hughes insured his signature moustache. And while we are mentioning body hair, Tom Jones has a cool $7 million insurance policy on his chest hair.

Concerned about crime in your neighbourhood? You can now take out kidnap and ransom insurance, and in the USA you can also purchase car-jacking and mugging insurance. If you ever find yourself tied up in a situation that reminds you of Men in Black, you can always take out alien abduction insurance. If you are worried about unusual activity here on earth, there’s always insurance against vampire and werewolf bites.

Let’s round out this exploration of weird and wonderful insurance policies with cover for your new arrival. Unless you have the financial capital Brad and Angelina had when they had twins, then you might be worried about the extra costs incurred if you have twins, so there’s an insurance policy to cover you for your double-arrival. And if your name just happens to be Mary and you’ve had an immaculate conception, I’m sure you wouldn’t be surprised that there is an insurance policy to cover you for that as well…

It is very important to make sure you have life insurance. The worst thing is having your family or loved ones cover the cost of things. Plan ahead like I did http://www.life.realinsurance.com.au/Life-Insurance/Family-Life-Cover.aspx and get family insurance to make sure your loved ones don’t have to suffer even more if something were to happen to you.
