Well...Real Insurance is a part of the Hollard Group of companies. The Hollard Group has offices in the United States, the UK, South Africa, Australia and throughout South East Asia and provides a wide range of insurance products and services to more than 6 million policyholders worldwide.

Opening in Australia in 1999, The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd holds an Insurance Licence issued by Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), and an Australian Financial Services Licence issued by Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). At Real Insurance we pride ourselves on our entrepreneurial spirit, innovative drive and talented team. We aim to provide no-nonsense insurance products to everyday Australians. That’s why our Product Disclosure Statements are some of the shortest and easiest to read in the business and you won’t catch us using jargon or legal speak. We’re approachable and we’re here to help you get the cover you need to protect the things that you care about like your family, home, cars and bicycles.

When Real Insurance started back in 2005 there were already many insurance companies in the market, NRMA, AAMI, Allianz and GIO just to name a few. But when we took away the familiar logos, we couldn’t figure out what really made one company different from another. Australian families didn’t need another big insurer. They needed something different, something real. And that’s how Real Insurance was born. We entered the market with the core purpose to ‘protect the quality of people’s lives.’ We want our customers to understand exactly what they are covered for, providing easy to understand insurance, and policy documents that are easy to read.

We also realised that things that sound too good to be true usually are just that. So we don’t lure in customers with ‘90% No Claim Bonuses’. Instead, we’ve set ourselves the goal of offering competitive insurance cover to all customers, all the time. We’ll be there for you should you need to make a claim, but if you don’t claim with us, we want to give you something as well. That’s why we were the first Australian insurer to offer the ‘Real Bonus’. If you are with us for three years in a row without a claim, we will pay you back 10% of the premiums you have paid us in that time. That’s actual money back in your pocket. The Real Bonus isn’t where our innovation ends. In September 2008, Real Insurance was the first Australian insurance company to launch Pay As You Drive car insurance, and the first insurer worldwide to launch a trust-based model of this type of insurance. And more recently, as a sponsor of the 2009 Tour de France broadcast on SBS, Real Insurance launched RealBike insurance. RealBike offers specialised bicycle insurance cover for bicycle enthusiasts who need more cover than most standard contents insurance offers. RealBike insurance includes a personal accident benefit and can even extend to cover your bike for your overseas cycling trips!

I apologise for our long queue times at present. The queues are partially due to unprecedented increased demand for Real Insurance, combined with the many recent claims events (floods, storms and cyclones) that have been occurring over the east coast of Australia.
