An interesting news article came out of Elmhurst Illinois this week to make you think about your
car insurance.
The story goes a little like this:
A woman from Lakemoor, Illinois called 9-1-1, saying that she had left her car on the train tracks, but that she could not remember exactly where.
The police eventually found the woman, 'highly intoxicated' but struggled to find the car due to the lack of lighting, and because of how far away the car was from any rail crossings.
It appears that the woman drove her car on a road only meant for railroad employees, and then parked the car on the tracks and walked off.
When the car was found it had been hit by a train and was pretty much demolished. Train traffic was halted for hours while the damaged wreck was cleared.
The woman was later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving off the road and tresspassing. But the final charge which was laid was that of driving without
car insurance. Ouch.
Come to think of it, perhaps she would have needed a new 'train vs.
car insurance ' cover to have been covered for this particular event!
