At long last, Chris King finally has a dedicated road hub

At long last, Chris King finally has a dedicated road hub: the Swift. The rear hub features a modified version of thier bulletproof swarm-of-angry-bees RingDrive mechanism, but executed in titanium and with 45 teeth, instead of 72. That, along with low friction bearing seals, should be enough to reduce the drag the “mountain” Chris King hubs had initially (until you broke them in, which took a freaking year or so) to roadie tolerable levels. Also new: Chris King says, officially, the front and rear hub can be radially laced. The axle is smaller than the “mountain hubs”, which saves weight, but may serve another purpose. The old axle was so large, Chris King could not make a Campy-compatible freehub body - there wasn’t enough space. The new axle… there’s enough room for Campy, though right now only a 8, 9, 10 speed Shimano/SRAM freehub body is offerd. Other details: many drilling options (front: 20, 24, 28, 32; rear: 24, 28, 32); 10 anodized colors; five-year warranty; front 105 grams, rear 215 grams; front $149, rear $349.
