Planning Your Journey to the Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10K

The Sydney Harbour 10K race taking place this Sunday 14th of July is set to be an exciting day, with lots of activities happening on site. The race starts at 7:30am sharp, but The Rocks will be buzzing beforehand in preparation for the spectacular run.

Below are details of all the attractions on the day as well as the transport and parking options available. We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10K!

If you are running, it is recommended that you arrive no later than 7:00am. This will give you plenty of time to relax before the race starts on George Street. Arriving early also gives you time to familiarise yourself with the area, as well as take in some of the beautiful harbour scenery. Head for the Warm Up Zone; this area will have heaters to keep you warm before the race. The event photographers will also be here, so practise your poses for those pre-race photos.

Whilst warming up, you can take part in the “Capture a Real Moment” competition. Real Insurance will be giving away a $400 Rebel Sport voucher to the photo that best captures a real moment down at Circular Quay. Enter by sharing your race photo on Real’s Facebook page and use the hash tag #realsyd10k. The winner will be announced in the days following the race and will be notified via Facebook. (If you spot the Real character actor, be sure to grab a snap with him which might become an amusing “Real Moment”)

Once the race is over, you can head over to the Chill Out Zone, which is by the Real Fruit Bar in First Fleet Park. Staff will be offering a variety of fruits to all participants including apples, bananas and oranges. Be sure to “check-in” on Facebook when you’re down there.

Due to road closures in place for this event, there will be some changes in transport services to Circular Quay on Sunday but there will be replacement buses every 10 minutes from 6:00am. Plan your route by visiting Sydney Trains. It is best to be prepared and plan your journey in advance by visiting www.131500.com.au or calling 131500.

If you’re driving, there is some parking available close to the race venue. The Clock Tower Car Park on the corner of Harrington and Argyle Streets is just 5 minutes’ walk from the race venue and will be open from 6:00am. Wynyard Lane Car Park, which is under Menzies Hotel off Margaret Street, is approximately 14 minutes’ walk from the race venue. Another option is the Sydney Opera House Car Park, a 14 minute walk to the start line.

For those who haven’t signed up yet, you can still register online until midnight on Friday the 12th of July. From Friday until the morning of the race, the registration tent will be located in Circular Quay so that you can sign up in person.

We look forward to seeing you at Sydney Harbour. Keep an eye out for the Real Insurance Runners in their purple vests and cheer them on when you spot them. These 40 employees are running to raise money for the Starlight Foundation and RedKite. Real Insurance wishes all runners a great race!
