The Children’s Hospital at Westmead

Each year, the Children’s Hospital at Westmead holds the Emerald Ball in order to raise much-needed funds for new treatments for children with Cerebral Palsy. Real Needs contributed by holding a fancy hat day on May 6 among staff. All the money raised was put toward buying an iPod touch, which was then auctioned off at the ball.

This year The Emerald Ball attracted over 750 guests, who were entertained by rock legends Diesel, Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss, dance troupe Justice (winners of Australia’s Got Talent 2010), and Darren Carr, Australia’s premier ventriloquist. The crowd then danced the night away to the irresistible beats of the Martini Club. Ben Dobbin hosted the auction part of the evening, which was great fun and helped raise even more funds.

Overall the event raised an impressive $300,000. The money will go towards funding rehabilitation for children who suffer from severe spasticity such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury and limb deficiency.
