Research by Real Insurance reveals that Australians love a tropical beach getaway more than any other holiday destination. There are some interesting alternative experiences that make also make the list of top experiences for Aussie travellers.

What does age have to do with anything?
It seems age plays a big role in where Aussies like to travel.
Whilst beaches and tropical islands might top the list for the under 65’s, those Aussie travellers over 65 would much rather visit a destination with historical value or go on a cruise.
If trekking in a remote location is more your thing then there is a good chance you are aged 25-34 as this age group were the most likely to prefer this type of holiday. They were also the ones most likely to prefer a party style holiday.
Is income a factor? It would appear so.
Out of everyone who preferred visiting historical sites, those with higher incomes seem to prefer it the most.
What is Australia’s wildest region? Regional Victoria! Judged solely on the fact that more than any other region in Australia, you prefer to visit theme parks for your holidays.
