What is Serious Illness Insurance?
Serious Illness Insurance can provide financial support if you’re diagnosed with a major medical condition, such as cancer, or if you have a heart attack, or stroke. While insurers may use different names for this type of cover, the purpose is similar: to help support you financially during your treatment and recovery.
You can add optional Serious Illness Insurance to your Real Life Insurance policy if you’re an Australian resident aged between 18 and 59. If you're diagnosed with a covered serious illness, you’ll receive a lump sum cash payment, that can be used however you choose. This can help provide financial peace of mind, so you can focus on your treatment and recovery, rather than your finances.
Thankfully, not all serious illnesses are terminal. But even so, they can certainly impact you and your family in ways you may not expect, and the financial burden can be immediate and substantial.
