I contacted RE Life Insurance. After answering the questions I was advised that I could get $400,000 cover for $44 a fortnight. I accepted the policy in those terms. When I received the policy I saw that my cover was for accidental death and serious injury only. I contacted by phone and spoke to a different lass who advised that my request for Life Insurance had been declined due to my past history including High Blood Pressure, High Colesterol (which are under control now) and Type 2 Diabetes which is also now under control. I was very disappointed that the client services officer that I first spoke with did not tell me that. When I questioned the past history I was told that no one under the age of 60 with any of those mentioned systems would be approved Life Insurance, however when I asked if I was over 60 I would be accepted and she replied 'Yes'. I find that totally ridiculous. I then advised that under these circumstances I wanted to cancel the policy. The lass I was talking to told me that I could only have the policy cancelled if I sent the request in writing and SIGNED. Again, I find this ridiculous as you accepted the policy I didn't want over the phone but would not accept my cancellation over the phone. I was most upset when speaking with the lass who continued to interrupt me and I told her I did not want to talk about it any more and just to cancel the policy. She continued so I hung up. A short time later she rang back again and again I told her that I wanted the policy cancelled before any money was debited from my account. The conversation ended. I have forwarded an email to 'realservice@reallifeinsurance.com.au requesting this policy be cancelled. I have not received any reply. Thus, not only did the original lass mislead me in taking out the insurance, the lass that I spoke with the second time was most unhelpful in assuring me the policy would be cancelled as per my request. I must say that I would NOT attempt to take any further insurance with Real Insurance and will not recommend this organisation to any friends or relatives.
